I will start with information about the origin of people with blonde hair and blue eyes. After that, I will also share with you the probability of having these features and other such facts.

1. It’s origin:

People with blonde hair and blue eyes are of the European region if you’re not aware of it. When you look at their origin specifically, those are from the North Eastern Slavic region. The region consists of countries like:

Poland

• Russia

• Ukraine

• Belarus

• And so on

Thus, if you’re searching about the origin of people with blonde hair and blue eyes, you know where they come from.

2. The spread of people with this genetic combination:

Today, people with blonde hair and blue eyes are not just limited to Europe. You can spot them all over the globe. You might be thinking, if they are native to that region or that these genetic attributes spread so fast?

The answer is that when the Roman Empire fell in the 5th century A.D., the German tribes conquered it. The intermingling of the German genes with those of the people from the Roman countries spread those genes far and wide. That is how this genetic attribute spread all over the world.

Over the generations, this genetic attribute spread further, which is why, these days, people with this hair color and eye color are all over the world rather than just being native to the European region.

3. Blonde hair with blue eyes percentage:

Are you wondering about the probability of having blonde hair blue eyes?

If yes, you would be surprised to know that the probability is just 0.017%.

Do you know the probability of being struck by lightning?

It is 0.03%. That is why; a person is more likely to be struck by lightning than having this genetic combination.

4. No melanin content:

The color of the eye is present in the iris. Also, melanin is the compound that is present in the iris of the eye. A greater quantity of melanin will make the eye of the darker.

However, there is no compound which makes the eye appear blue. You might be thinking, then what is the reason behind blue eyes?

The answer is that when eyes do not consist of any melanin, all the light gets scattered when it is directed towards these eyes. That is what makes them appear blue. It is the reason why the sky or the sea appears blue.

Thus, the cause of blue eyes is not any specific compound present in the iris of the eye but rather the absence of melanin.

5. The high volume of hair:

Generally speaking, blondes have over 100,000 more hair as compared to people of other hair colors. The volume of hair is equally higher in people who have blonde hair and blue eyes.

Are you wondering why so?

If yes, that is because blonde hair is finer as compared to the hair of another color. Due to this very reason, in the same area, more hair can grow. It is one of the primary reasons why people with such genetic combinations often have.

6. Blondes aren’t forever:

People with blue eyes and born with blonde hair often do not have blonde hair throughout their life. You would be surprised to know that their hair color can change before they turn 10. That is because of a natural pigment by the name of eumelanin increases in their hair. The job of this pigment is to determine the darkness of the hair. That is why children born with blonde hair and blue eyes might not remain so for the rest of their life.

7. Climatic effect:

As we stated above, the region of people having this genetic combination is from Europe. However, have you ever wondered why only Europe and why not any other continent?

I will answer this question, as well.

In the North European region, which is the point of origin for such people, the sunshine is on the lower side. The skin needs sunshine to get Vitamin D. That is why; the skin attempts to absorb more sunlight because of its dearth. It happens not only for bone development but also for the robust immunization system of our body. That is why; these people have a high rate of sun absorption.

What many people might not know is that this evolution of the body to absorb more sunlight and get the pigment, which protects them from UV rays is on the lower side. That is because such people absorb as much UV rays as possible to get vitamin D. The pigment is by the same genes responsible for producing the pigment that color the eyes and hair.

It means that the amount of that pigment is pretty less. That is why the eyes become blue in the absence of the melanin pigment, and the hair becomes blonde.

In a nutshell, the colder climate in the North European region certainly impacts the hair color and the eye color of such individuals.

Another fact is that the population of people having blonde hair in northern Europe has been relatively higher for centuries. That is why; it is not that uncommon to have blonde hair. The absence of the pigment due to genes that produce UV resistant pigment leads to blue eyes.

Now you know why most people with this genetic combination might have a link to a single geographic region.

The next time around, you see an individual with blonde hair and blue eyes; you would at least know how rare that combination is. Not only that, but chances are also, their ancestors, if not them directly, would be related to northern Europe. These were some interesting facts about these individuals. These are individuals with some of the rarest genetic combinations in the world.
